The short version
We collect the minimum we need, we never sell your data, you control who sees your profile, and you can get your data corrected or deleted by asking, no matter where you live. The contact for everything privacy: privacy@aloark.com.
Who we are
ALO ARK ("we," "us") is operated by Alo Ark Technologies Inc. (Alberta, Canada), 3909 University Ave NW, Suite 1060, Calgary, AB T3B 6K3, Canada. We serve members in Canada and the United States. Our designated privacy officer can be reached at privacy@aloark.com.
What we collect, and why
Waitlist (now): name, email, whether you're joining as a professional or a business, your stage ("what's next for you"), skill area or company name, and a signup timestamp. Also recorded with your signup: how you found us when a link tells us (a campaign tag or a member's share code), the language you signed up in (English or French) so your invitation and updates can arrive in it, and your consent choice for founder updates. Used to invite you when doors open and to send occasional founder updates (see Email, below). Legal basis: your consent, given when you signed up.
Member accounts (when the platform opens): login credentials (managed by our authentication provider), and the profile you choose to build: headline, skills, experience, availability, what you're seeking, links, answered questions ("field notes"), and optionally a video introduction, work samples, and references. You decide what goes in your profile and who can see it (everyone / verified businesses only / hidden). References are verified with the person who gave them, via their own email confirmation. Your quiet-search list (companies, email domains, and names you choose to hide from) is private: it is never shown to anyone and is used only to keep your profile out of those viewers' results. Your Evidence Passport lets you export your record and create private share links: anyone holding a live link can read the sections it carries without an account, every open is recorded and shown only to you, and any link can be revoked at any time. If you use the private search journal (ALO Runway), what you log there (interviews, offers, an optional search start date) is visible only to you and never appears on your profile, in the directory, or to any business.
Business accounts: company name, verified company email domain, and contact details for the account holder.
Student verification: signing in with a school email verifies enrollment automatically; we record the verification and its standing, never your coursework or grades.
Automatically: basic, privacy-respecting site analytics (page views, approximate region, no cross-site tracking profiles), first-party page-event counts (which sections are read and which controls are used, with no cookies and no identifiers), and standard server logs. We do not use advertising trackers.
What we deliberately do NOT do: we do not sell or rent personal information, to anyone, ever. We do not share personal information for anyone else's marketing. We do not run biometric analysis of any kind (video introductions are stored and displayed, never face-analyzed). We do not build hidden scores about you.

Cookies & tracking
We use only what the site needs to function (essential cookies, e.g., session state) plus privacy-respecting, aggregate analytics. No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking, no third-party ad pixels. Because we do not sell or share personal information, opt-out signals like Global Privacy Control (GPC) are honored by default: there is nothing to opt out of, and we treat GPC-flagged visitors identically.
No automated decisions
No hidden scoring, no algorithmic ranking of people for pay, no emotional or biometric analysis, and no automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you. Search and discovery run on the criteria members and businesses can see: relevance, skills, and availability.
How your information is used
To operate the platform (profiles, directory search by verified businesses, intro requests, Build Teams listings and applications); to enforce our rules and keep the network safe; to send the emails described below; and to meet legal obligations. Contact details are never exposed to other users without your action: intro requests flow through ALO ARK until you choose to connect.
Two kinds. Transactional (signup confirmations, intro requests, security notices), sent as needed. Marketing/updates (founder notes, digests), only with your consent, always with a working unsubscribe honored promptly, always identifying us and including our mailing address. Consent records (including signup timestamps) are retained as required by Canada's anti-spam legislation (CASL).
Service providers
We use a small set of processors to run ALO ARK: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting and basic analytics), Cloudflare (domain and DNS), Google Workspace (business email), Resend (email delivery), and, when paid tiers launch, Stripe (payments; we never see full card numbers). Each processes data only to provide their service to us. Data may be stored or processed in Canada and/or the United States.
Your rights
Wherever you live, Canada or any US state, you can ask us to access, correct, or delete your personal information, and we will honor it without making you cite a statute. We deliberately extend the strongest rights to everyone rather than gating them by geography. Email privacy@aloark.com; we respond within 30 days. You can also unsubscribe from marketing at any time, change profile visibility at any time, and close your account, which deletes your profile.
Canadian members: our practices are designed to comply with PIPEDA and Alberta's PIPA. California residents: we do not "sell" or "share" personal information as defined by the CCPA/CPRA; you may exercise the rights above without discrimination, and you may use an authorized agent to submit requests on your behalf (we'll verify the agent's authorization and your identity).
If you're not satisfied with how we handle a privacy request, you can escalate: in Canada, to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta; in the US, to your state Attorney General. We'd rather fix it first: privacy@aloark.com reaches a human.
Retention
Waitlist data: until you're invited and become a member, or ask to be removed. Member data: while your account is active, then deleted within 90 days of account closure, except records we must keep (e.g., CASL consent records, notice-and-notice records, financial records). Reference/notice records are kept as law requires.
Security & breach
Access controls, row-level security at the database, encryption in transit, least-privilege keys. No system is perfect: if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the relevant authorities as required by PIPEDA and applicable US state law.
Age
ALO ARK is for people 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16; if we learn we have, we delete it promptly; parents or guardians can contact privacy@aloark.com.
The ecosystem
ALO ARK and NetInten are products of the same company, Alo Ark Technologies Inc. If a profile-migration ("graduation") feature launches, it will be opt-in, and this policy will be updated to describe exactly what moves.
Changes
We'll post changes here with a new effective date; material changes get notice to members.
